Ms. Hatsume Sato was known as the “Mother Teresa of Japan.”
She hosted a healing retreat in Aomori, welcoming those in distress with warm, home-cooked meals. She was featured in news and documentary programs.
Ms. Kyoko Asano of Toyama City, whose family had a very close relationship with Ms. Hatsume, has shared her rice ball recipe and her spirit with us.
Toyama is renowned as the premier rice-producing region. We use rice from Snow White Farm (led by Mr. Sousaku Sakaguchi) in Tateyama Town, located southeast of Toyama Prefecture, which practices natural farming in a sustainable way without any pesticides or fertilizers.
Every item, from the tableware to the ingredients you eat, has been earnestly selected by Kyoko. Freshly shaved bonito flakes and her homemade pickled plums with natural salt will also impress you.
Immerse yourselves in this restorative session. The riverside view will relax you just as much as the handcraft.
